The International Economics and Trade degree is one of four pathways we offer in Economics; the others being Economics, Business Economics and Financial Economics.
For greater flexibility, all of our Economics degrees have a common first year. This gives you the chance to experience and achieve a thorough grounding in economic concepts and principles, along with relevant quantitative techniques and skills, before you make your decision about which area you’d like to specialise in, depending on your interests or career aspirations.
We will help to develop your quantitative skills in econometrics through the use of practical, real-life examples, such as an assessment of the impact of foreign direct investment on international growth via regression analysis.
You’ll find that discussions on international issues are strongly embedded throughout each of the three years of study. Specialist topics include: world business and trade, international economics, development economics and economic policy in the European Union. These introduce you to contemporary issues, such as policy co-ordination in euro-zone countries, causes of the global financial crisis and global imbalances, causes of rising food prices, deadlock in the Doha trade talks, progress on Millennium Development Goals, Brexit and impacts of the rise of China and India on European living standards.
Entry Requirement: Year 12 equivalent
