It involves attracting and retaining customers, employees, investors, communities and other stakeholders critical to business success.

In this major you’ll learn writing, event management, networking and organisational skills, which are needed for PR work in corporate or consultancy environments. You’ll learn how to help businesses achieve their goals and how to represent them in the best possible light while considering the needs of all stakeholders.

You will gain hands-on experience by developing strategies and pitching ideas for real organisations as well as undertaking a professional internship in your final year. You can start your career with membership of the Public Relations Student Chapter, which will provide you with networking and career-building opportunities.

Public Relations is offered as part of the Bachelor of Commerce. You can enhance your studies with a secondary major or choose from a range of elective units to support your career goals.

When coupled with Journalism you can complete this major as part of our Bachelor of Commerce or our Bachelor of Arts. Your choice determines your core units.

You can study this as part of a double major:

Curtin’s Public Relations course is accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) – the peak national professional body. The accreditation applies to both the Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Arts when students are enrolled in the Public Relations major.
